Inauguration meeting

The inauguration meeting of GUM took place on 29.01.1971 in Heidelberg, Germany. Participants were (in the order of signature):

First meeting of the managing board

The first meeting of the managing board was held on 16.02.1971 in Heidelberg, Germany. On 02.08.1971 the society was registered at the district court of Heidelberg under the name „Gesellschaft für Umwelt-Mutationsforschung (GUM) e.V.“.

Admission into the
European Environmental Mutagen Society (EEMS)

The GUM was integrated into EEMS as a regional section during the 3rd Annual Meeting of the EEMS, which was held from 4. June to 7. June 1973 in Uppsala (Sweden). All members of GUM thus also became members of EEMS.

Part of the European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EEMGS)

In 2016 EEMS decided to change its constitution and society name to European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics (EEMGS) Society. Therefore, all members of the GUM are also members of EEMGS.

Honorary President

In 1971 Prof. Dr. Dr. K. H. Bauer (deceased 07.07.1978), Heidelberg, was elected Honorary GUM President.
